"Good point. I'll try to keep us out of trouble." Brad got a serious look on his face for once, "We've dealt with guards before, I think it'll be all right, either way."

She nodded, standing up. "There's a forest in the old part of the city - after the first attack on the city, that part was damaged and left, so the forest outside overgrew it. We didn't use to have the walls surrounding us, or so many guards around.", she said bitterly, walking off towards the older part of the city, looking at her barefeet as she mulled over her thoughts and memories.

"Sounds like this place used to be so much better for folks like us." Brad mused aloud.

"It was, and for everyone else. Elves, dwarves, hobbits, humans..", she sighed, shakiing her head. As they reached the doorway, she pulled out a lock pick and set to work, getting it open fairly quick. There was another one inside that she had to open too. "C'mon, this thing closes pretty fast.", she told Brad.

He hurried along, staying close. Now his hands were on the hilts of his blades, he wasn't too sure, but his gut was telling him that something was wrong...
He dismissed it as paranoia as she worked with the door.

She opened the last door, and stepped into the sun. She grinned, climbing on top of an old building and looking out at the forest.

Climbing was more of an ordeal for him, but he still made his way up to the top of the building.
"Ah...the forest reminds me of home." Only a slight bit of sadness tainted his tone, almost indetectable.

"Aye, the forest's a nice place.", she agreed with him. A loud growling noise came from behindthem, in the fading shadows. Obsidian raised a hand, making the 'peace' symbol. "Krypto vernona nicto.", she told the gnome as it stepped out into the sun.

Brad, at this point, found his mouth immobile, perhaps he just feared whatever was in the shadows, despite the fact that it was now revealed. Perhaps he was just in awe of the creature.

She looked over at Brad. "Don't -", she stopped herself, knowing that telling him to not worry was a total lie, "Um, don't freak out. Gnaark and his clan should leave us alone.", she told him.

"Right." He found his voice for one word, being around humans his entire life had really kept him sheltered from of the other things in this wonderful world.
"So now what?" He queried, putting his period of fear behind him the best he could.

She looked a at him blankly, then shook her head, snapping out of it. "Oh, right! You've never been here before...", she trailed off. "Well, there's this really old place that we could explore - I've never been down there, too dangerous for just one person.", she told him, her legs swinging off the edge of the building, wondering if he'd want to bring his gang with him - it would be safer then, with more people.

Brad considered it for a moment, she had said it was too dangerous for one person. Fifteen year old, male logic only took a few seconds to come up with an answer, "Well, unless there's something really big down there, I don't think that we'll have a problem. I mean, I know I'm good with these blades...and you look like you can handle yourself."

She refrained from rolling her eyes, and nodded, excitment taking over, and curiosity. "Yeah, let's go.", she told him, making her way down the building and towards the oldest looking part of the 'Old Town' - this had probably been built before even the first human laid eyes on it, she thought, finger tips brushing lightly against a peice of crumbled brick.

He followed, eyes rapidly observing every detail, a habit he had picked up from being a thief. He didn't think he would have to use his twin blades, despite what she had said. Curiosity had, pretty much, overridden all forms of judgment. At this point, all was left for him to do was to follow close and be ready for anything...

"This section is really old,. so be careful - it might b - breeak!", she shreiked, the boards cracking under her feet, sending her tumbling down. Obsidian's nimble hands tried to grab onto something, some perch or rock - but everything was covered in mold and slime. The teen had the wind knocked out of her as she hit the bottom, and she thought she heard something pop or crack. The half elven girl lay on the grimy ground, trying to catch her breath and strength.

"Are you all right?" Brad shouted to the bottom of the hole she had fallen into. His quick reflexes had sent him hopping back a few feet just as she fell into the hole. He tried to grab for her hand, but she was too far gone by the time he had reached the edge of the hole. Unfortunately, he didn't consider the fact that he was on the edge of what she had just fell through.
With all the grace of a drunk, he stood up and broke another board, joining her in the hole. He managed to slow his fall a little, tiny bit on the slimy surfaces, but he still hit the ground hard...

She heard a boby land next to her, and slowly sat up. "You alright?", she whispered at him. A faint light trickled down from the hole above, enough to see shapes, but nothing defienite. Oh great, now both of us are stuck down here!, she groaned mentally.

"Ugh..." The ebon haired lad said when the intense pain began to fade away, "I'm fine..." He got to his feet and felt his right side, hissing when he reached on of the lower rib bones. He had injured his ribs before, so he understood that this wasn't a serious injury, as long as he didn't do anything stupid.
He glanced around, realizing what the female had just realized, and cursed under his breath. This was certainly a bad spot to have gotten into...
