SIGN UP AT ANYTIME
All is not well in the land of Ellswin. The great and powerful King William lays assassinated, while his son, Edward, is inexperienced and frightened by this situation. A group of rebels, the Blackwater Band, routinely raid traders' caravans and hold up small, defenseless towns.
Meanwhile, the neighboring Empire of Andreas has been waging a decade long war against the Kingdom of Ellswin and have captured a little less than half of King William's land.
Though Ellswin's infantry are superior in every way, Andreas has many elite calvalry divisions, which is why they have done so well in this war. Edward, however, has vowed to take back his father's land, even seen riding into battle with the fleur-de-lis on his standard. He isn't much of a warrior, as he is still young and inexperienced, but he is very charismatic and has rallied his people to victories in a few battles.
However, in all this turmoil, no one noticed the tiny people, who are going about their lives while all these things go on. These unknown people have yet to decide their true destinies or gain any fame in the world, despite their skills. In the coming days, as more and more fall on the battlefield, they will reach their potential, or die trying...
Rules of the RP 1. You can side with the Kingdom, the Blackwater Band, or just be a normal citizen. You can help the Empire indirectly, but they have a kill first, ask questions later policy for people who live in Ellswin.
2. If you are going to kill another person's character, you must have permission from that person and the slaying must be logical.
3. Be realistic. Godmod posts will be ignored and multiple, blatant offenses can result in having all of your future posts omitted from the rp.
4. You may be any humanoid race, but please don't godmod your race.
5. Dragons and other mythical creatures can be found, but they aren't commonplace.
6. I want to make this work; if you have ideas to help this rp out, tell me. I can't make this rp too good without your help; it's our rp.
7. Observe the board rules.
8. Have fun.

~ Sounds fun! ~
Name: Katherine Rask Gender: Female Age:14 Profession: A pocketpicker, and knows a few people - one of them her elder brother - in the Blackwater gang. She helps them out sometimes. Race: Half elf, half huiman (is that okay?) Personality: Prideful and commanding. Ususally shy, but will open up as she gets to know you better. Will defiently stick up for someone/thing she feels is right. Appearance: Long curly ebony hair, along with black eyes. Has a fair face, with freckles spashed on. Stands at 5'5", when barefoot. Skills: Can cast weak spells, and can use her bow and arrows fairly well, but she is most skilled with her daggers. Can also pickpocket very well, along with lockpicking. Weaknesses: Angers easily, has to much pride, and tends to try and take over things. Also, doesn't like the rain. Items/Weapons: Carries a staff with her, as it holds a small amount of magic in it, and a satchel that holds odds and ends. 1. Daggers 2. Bow 3. A few, badly made, arrows.

Give it another day or two to see if anyone else will join. Two people does not an rp make, unfortunately.
Name: Bradley Diess Gender: M Age: 15 Profession: Rogue (leader of a four person gang) Race: human Personality: Careful, yet confident. He is a fairly kind person to his fellows and normal, non rich folks. However, he doesn't hold the same kindness to guards or any Imperials he may come across. Also, he has no guilt for robbing people, especially the wealthy ones. However, he is not heartless enough to leave anyone he robs with no money at all.
Appearance: He has short black hair and a rather clean, scarless face. He is five feet and eight inches tall, fairly thin. He does have muscles, but he is not built like a soldier or a knight. He dresses in peasant clothes when he is off the job. When on a 'mission' he dresses in varying colors of clothing, from black to lighter colors, but he has most of his handsome face covered, also.
Skills: Skilled in the dual saber style, also able to be quiet enough to avoid combat when necessary. Charismatic enough to con unsuspecting marks out of their cash, but also able to use his personality and good looks for less illegal things. A natural leader.
Weaknesses: Better at running than fighting. Not much of a thief, either, but his friends can help him there. He has gotten himself in over his head a few times.
Items/Weapons: 1. Twin Sabers (two slots) 2. Dagger 3. Climbing rope and grappling hook. 4. Pack (carries a few mundane items that may or may not come in handy on the job)
(Each of his gang members is similarly equipped, but carries a different weapon. In the case of Pick, he carries a set of lockpicks, also.)
Bio: Brad was born into the lower class of a small town in Ellswin. His father was a washed up soldier, while his mother was a pickpocket herself. He learned skills from them, at least until the Blackwater Band raided their town. The Blackwater gang overran the few guards and robbed the town blind, burning it down. The guards that managed to stay cool and live through the raid brought Brad and the other survivors to a nearby city. That was when he was thirteen.
It was there where he met Ian Forton, a young boy who Brad quickly became friends with. When the city left them poor and among the beggars, the two met a thief who called himself the Grey Fox. He took pity upon the two and gave them a small bag of assorted coins and some lockpicks. It took Ian a month to figure out how they actually worked and what they were used on, but he quickly found that he had a natural talent for the art. Ian took on the nickname of Pick, for his skills with this tool.
Sometime later, they had spent the money on some weaponry and food. With Ian's skills, they had made a good living, for beggars. They were heading to the market to purchase some fruit when a half a dozen of low life bandits jumped a, seemingly, defenseless, teenage girl. As they hopped in, they realized the female was not helpless, as she took down two of her assailants with a simple shortsword.
Being one of the coolest girls they had ever met, they befriended her over a few weeks. She is better at persuading people than she is at fighting, but she is a fairly good thief, too. Her codename became Beauty.
Her older brother, a strong, well built boy named Ernest, also took an interest in their 'activities'. He joined, dissatisfied with the peasant lifestyle he had grown up in. Being the largest of the group, they dubbed him Tiny. He became the best fighter of their team, more than capable of using the club that he carries with him.
Together, the four are a rather successful little band of thieves. They steal from the rich, rather than the normal people. They travel to a new town, from time to time, keeping their robberies and thefts low key, to avoid attaining too much notoriety...

Right, let's roll then.
The castle town of Fier is a very prosperous place, despite the war that plagues Ellswin. Many people live here and many people travel through this place. Heavily armed and elite trained guards keep overall crime low, but the Blackwater band, as well as other organized groups, still operate, though in a limited capacity.
Due to the increased number of visitors and refugees, the guards have begun to search most people who come into town...
"Why are we coming to this big town, again?" Pick asked, not liking being around too many people at once.
"Because, that town further east was too dangerous to stay in, with those Imperials moving more to the west everyday." Beauty reminded him.
"Quiet, we're coming to a guard post." Brad ordered, not wanting a replay of what had happened the last time they had come to a town this large. Let's just say it involved a two week stay in the local prison. Luckily, in this land, petty crimes like thievery were punished more by fines and short stints in jail.
Many thieves hated the Empire, because they were known to punish theft with execution. The Blackwater Band, however, didn't really care; they had been around longer than both the Empire and Kingdom, and would be around much longer.
"Halt, travellers." The guard raised his left hand, to cause them to stop, "This is just a routine search."
He didn't check for any concealed weapons or items under their clothes, but they did thorughly examine their packs.
Nothing was found, as Ian kept his lockpicks hidden on his person.
"All right, go on through and enjoy your stay." And so, the group of four thieves went on through into the town...

Katherine grinned, having avoided dectection as she snuck in with the last group. A caravan of travelers, and she fit in - they had just glanced at her, another useless girl. Looking around, her ebony eyes cuaght sight of a shining necklace in a shop window. It glinted in the sunlight, dark blue on the parts not cuaght in the light. She walked casually over, going beside the shopkeep. "I'm the new assistant - you can go now.", she told the scrawny, bored kid behind the counter, who nodded and ran off. She grabbed the necklace, along with a stash of money. The half elf girls ears were covered by a green and red bandana she wore - but only in the cities. She hated having to wear it, but people weren't exactly kind to half breeds. Frowning at the thought, she re-adjusted it, thin hands smoothing the good cloth.

The gang started their travels in this town by searching for a safe place to stay. In big towns such as this, beggars had a code system, mostly to help themselves, along with some shadier others, survive better. They came to one of the desitute of this city, Brad did the talking.
"Hello, ma'am." He allowed a small smile for the poor, older woman.
She turned towards him, a curious expression on his face, "I haven't seen you around here stranger, perhaps you need to be shown around."
"That would be most enjoyable." He answered, grinning at her.
She curtsied and lead him off to the 'worse' part of town. Beggars in Ellswin were known to watch out for non-Blackwater thieves, especially those who were generous enough to give them a few gold coins in return for this service...

Katherine was now perched on the steps of an old, broken down house. She had traveled here twice before - both times just for two days. She planned to stay a bit longer this time, catch up with some old aquantances... She flipped a small copper coin repeatedly, an old habit of hers. It was an old filthy coin, so nobody would've bother to try and steal it, like she knew they would if it glinted and shone. Gazing around, she sneezed suddenly. Shaking her head, black curls shaking, she saw an old woman, apperantly showing a few more theifs around. Debating for a few seconds, she yelled down 'Hia, Clarese!", to the old woman, making her way rapidly down. She had met the old woman on her last voyage here, when the city had been moderatly better - and the old woman had looked much better then too.

Brad glared lightly at the bandana wearing young woman who came up, interrupting their 'tour'. Then, recognizing from her apparel that she was probably a fellow thief, his expression quickly became a little friendlier. However, he was still a little bit miffed that procedure had been broken. Not to mention that drawing so much attention to any one beggar was probably not a good thing for said poor person.
"Greetings." Clarese replied, giving the rather loud young woman a slight wave.
Meanwhile, behind the Brad, Pick nervously glanced around, a paranoid reaction to the few people that were around him. Tiny held a rather indifferent expression, while his sister merely looked on curiously.

"Gaia and Hera not been treating you to well lately?", she asked, raising a brow. The last she had seen of the woman, she had had a small house in the upper parts of the city - not the best, but not...here. Her attention turning for a moment to Pick, Obsidian nearly laughed. "Don't worry, they won't mess with her - she's helped every bandit, theif an' assasin that ever came through here. 'Cludin' me.", she assured her."Now calm down - y' look worse'n a hunted rabbit."

"Don't worry about him, he's just a bit paranoid when anyone's looking his way. He's usually pretty calm, but not out in the open like this." Brad explained.
"Y-yes...exactly." The nervous 'picker agreed, averting his eyes shyly.
Beauty kindly laid an assuring hand on his shoulder, mostly to calm him down and keep him from looking so suspiscious; the guards often took an interest in anyone that showed that behavior...

"What else you gotta show'em, Clarese?", she asked the old lady. Her ebony eyes roamed the street, looking for guards and other 'undesirables'. Such as anyone who looked at them the wrong way. In truth, Obsidian was just as nervous as Pick - she just didn't show it as much.

Clarese went to tell her, but Tiny cut her off with his deep voice, "She's showed us enough, it's too hot here. Perhaps we can move this discussion somewhere else..." Glancing at a nearby guard who strolled past, obliviously whistling a toon...

She nodded quickly, giving Clarese a silver coin and dashing off, waiting for the others to follow. She made her way to a back house, a bit better than some of the other - alot of diffrent people kept it slightly livable, even though it was still musty and broken down.

They followed her well enough, coming to the house and seeing her standing outside, Brad simply asked, "Nice house." He commented, "Your's?"

She snorted, shaking her head. "No. It's just a round-about.", she told them, walking in. A round-about was the name for the livable houses that everybody just came to when they wanted, and left whenever. Nobody asked any questions, since nobody really cared. "You need a place to stay for a while?", Obsidian asked them over her shoulder, muching on an apple she had picked up on the way down.
